  1. Chicago, Far South Side, Roseland, Kensington, St. Anthony's every single one of those words rings with nostalgia for many who grew up in the 'Roseland' of the 1930's through the 1960's. When the world changed and Roseland along with it, the big move took place and the 'old' Roseland became just a memory. Through sites such as http://www.gromak/ http://www.respublica/ and http://www.snapshots/ attempts have been made to keep the candle of those memories burning. We are all thankful for those memories being made available to us. I am CJ Martello and the new columnist for The Fra Noi writing the "Petals from Roseland column." Mario Avignone wrote the column for forty-two years and passed it on to me last year.

I am going to post all of my columns on this blog and am also in search of photos of 'old' Roseland. Everyone should feel free to contact me concerning photos to scan or post to this blog cjfranoi@yahoo.com . This blog exists for all former Roselandites, we've got better memories to hang on to and can let go of 'this' present day Roseland which isn't ours. As time marches forward, so do we and we should maintain the memories of our Roseland. All positive comments and stories are welcome.
